What is Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art. It is the world's most popular martial art in terms of number of practitioners, and sparring, or kyeorugi, is an official Olympic sporting event. Taekwondo's popularity has resulted in the varied evolution of the martial art into several domains: as with many other arts, it combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy.

There are two main styles of Taekwondo: World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), which is practised at the Olympics; and International Taekwondo Federation (ITF), which was founded by General Choi Hong Hi.

Testimonials

"I LOVE this school. Master Michael is fantastic with the children. He is an extension to the family in guiding and teaching our son, Jason, the values we believe in. This program has been great for our son's confidence and self esteem."

"My daughter was studying in a private school in Damansara. One of her classmate, an 8 year old boy pulled out knife and wanted to cut her, fortunately she has been attending Taekwondo class 1 year ago, she was able to block him and threw him on the floor. We were so lucky."
— Hartini

"Previously i've been sending my boy to Taekwondo in school, after 1 year he is still rebellious and lack of self control. Taekwondo in SMASH is so much different from school, my boy learn to be discipline and respectful after just 2 month in Taekwondo class in SMASH. He can now follow simple instructions from me."
